HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) 30,000ft Skydive

HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) 30,000ft Skydive Retweet

James Shepard, Graham Stone and Stephen Riley, in a furious bout of "box ticking" have decided to go that one step further and try something new in Skydiving....a HALO jump from 30,000 feet.

Jumping from this altitude is a lot more involved than the standard height of 13,500, with the main problems being physiological. At 30,000 feet, if the oxygen fails, you have 1-3 minutes before being rendered unconcious due to lack of O2. James and Graham will breathe pure oxygen from an internal aircraft system on the way to altitude and then switch to a leg mounted portable system for the exciting journey down.

Freefall time should be of the order of 3.5 minutes to a deployment altitude of approximately 3,000 ft.   James plans to wear a head-cam to video the jump and evidence that they completed the challenge.
